Scientists may be able to identify disease symptoms before they manifest by using artificial intelligence (AI) software to analyze images of the retina, which is located at the back of the eye.
Using the largest data set of its kind in the world, the NeurEYE research team gathered nearly a million eye scans from opticians throughout Scotland. With the aid of artificial intelligence, they created an algorithm that can evaluate the condition of the blood vessels in the eye and potentially identify neurogenerative diseases.
