In May, Ukraine’s Usyk became boxing’s first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years after 36-year-old Fury lost his WBC title by split decision.
In order to promote their rematch in Saudi Arabia on December 21—which will not be for all four belts after Usyk renounced the IBF title—they met at London’s opulent Guildhall.
Wearing black gloves and a crimson tie, Usyk pulled a photo of the Morecambe boxer getting pummeled out of a briefcase.
Fury told Usyk, 37, who had a shaved head, “I look like Shrek,” as he signed it.
The champion made his entrance to the game’s theme song, Ave Maria by Franz Schubert, by imitating Agent 47 from the Hitman video game franchise.
Meanwhile, to the tune of Aqua’s Barbie Girl, Fury somewhat suddenly made his way to the top table.
Aside from the flair, the news conference was quite calm.
We had a fantastic fight in May, and although people still talk about it, Fury stated that it was over and that we needed to move on.
