KARACHI: While a vote recount for the NA-231 (Malir-III) seat was taking place, masked individuals burnt one bag containing ballot papers and snatched another.
There was disturbance at the commission’s office in the Saddar neighborhood as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) employees began blaming one another for the event.
At the regional election commission office, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has mandated a recount of four polling places belonging to the National Assembly seat.
The provincial election commissioner was instructed by an electoral tribunal of the Sindh High Court to review and recount every ballot cast at the four polling places (PS 65, 71, 98, and 175) in NA-231. This led to the ECP’s directive.
