At 7:29 p.m., an incident occurred on the line close to the Mid Wales village of Llanbrynmair.
A man’s death was confirmed by Dyfed-Powys Police, who also reported that 15 other people had been hospitalized for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.
It stated that every other passenger on both trains had been removed.
According to the British Transport Police, “a low-speed train collision involving two trains” prompted the dispatch of officers.
According to authorities, paramedics, fire and rescue personnel, and Dyfed Powys authorities were dispatched to the location.
According to a joint statement from Transport for Wales and Network Rail, the incident happened during the 6.31 p.m. train.
“We would encourage passengers to plan ahead and check journeys before travelling via National Rail Enquiries,” the statement read, adding that the line was closed.
“My thoughts are with all those involved in the rail incident in Powys earlier this evening,” tweeted Eluned Morgan, the first minister of Wales.
I have requested to be kept updated on any developments during the night and would want to thank the emergency personnel for their prompt response.
