According to the plaintiffs’ attorneys, Walt Disney has agreed to pay $43.3 million to resolve a complaint alleging that over an eight-year period, its female employees in California made $150 million less than their male counterparts.
The three law firms representing the plaintiffs said in a statement on Monday that Disney has agreed to hire a labor economist for three years as part of the settlement to analyze pay fairness among full-time, non-union California employees below the vice president level and resolve disparities.
LaRonda Rasmussen first filed the lawsuit in 2019 after discovering that six males with the same job title made significantly more money than she did. One of the guys had several years less experience than her, and he was making $20,000 more annually than she was.
