In order to restore peace after tribal skirmishes that killed several people and blocked off the Kurram district from the rest of the province, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex Committee resolved on Friday to demolish all bunkers in the district.
Following the meeting, a communiqué stated that “a consensus was reached [during the meeting] to collect arms from both parties involved in the district.” “Under the government’s mediation, both parties will sign an agreement to voluntarily surrender all weapons.”
At least 130 people have died and numerous others have been injured in the district as a result of clashes that worsened last month. Following an attack on a convoy that left at least 43 people dead, the skirmishes began.
There have been reports of food and medication shortages in several areas of the Afghan-bordering Kurram region.
