Residents of Karachi now have to pay more for water due to recent hikes in the price of gas and power.
Water prices were permitted to increase by 23% at the Water and Sewerage Board’s sixth meeting, which was presided over by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
Not only have water rates increased by 9%, but sources also show that sewerage costs have increased by 14%.
The financial strain that residents currently face from increased power costs is exacerbated by this most recent rise.
Further raising the expense of living in Karachi is the confirmation that a municipal tax is now deducted from electricity bills.
