Three pumps at the Dhabeji pumping station in Thatta had to be shut down as a result of a significant power outage that caused a breach in a pipeline with a 72-inch diameter.
More than 18 million gallons of water to Karachi have been suspended due to the damage to pipeline number 5, which is known as the water supply pipeline.
The Waterboard claims that the breach was caused by water’s back pressure. It is anticipated that the repairs will take 24 to 36 hours, during which time Karachi might experience severe water shortages.
The necessary pipeline repairs and supply restoration are being worked on by the authorities.
