At 18.31%, tomatoes saw the biggest weekly price drops, followed by potatoes (-10.42%), onions (-10.01%), and eggs (-8.64%). Other significant declines were in mustard oil (-0.67%), liquefied petroleum gas (-1.21%), and chicken (-2.17%).
Nonetheless, certain commodities saw price increases during the week. While petrol prices jumped by 1.39%, bananas had the biggest increase, rising by 3.22%. Cooking oil (+1.01%), firewood (+1.00%), fuel (+0.99%), and vegetable ghee (up 1.08% for 2.5 kg packing and 0.74% for 1 kg) were other major drivers of inflation.
Prices for 21 of the 51 necessary products that were monitored in 17 cities increased, 10 decreased, and 20 stayed the same.
