LAHORE: Those with an interest in the business of renewable energy have expressed their satisfaction with the federal budget’s concessions on the import and local production of solar panels. They have also urged the government to provide further information on this matter as soon as possible.
Maybe the government has realized that the public cannot be saved from costly energy sources like coal and thermal energy unless they turn to renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and so on.
“It has also realized that the public cannot stop using solar energy to rid themselves of expensive, traditional sources, as the industry is growing quickly,” Mr. Mustafa Amjad, Program Director of the Renewable First, an Islamabad-based energy think tank, said.
Speaking with Mr. Amjad commended the government for providing financial incentives to regional solar panel producers. Encouraging the “Incentivising the manufacture of solar energy equipment by allowing the tax-free import of raw material is a great move. The decision will save foreign exchange and create hundreds of jobs,” he said.
According to him, the “massive tax relief” has not been restricted limited to raw material for solar panels but also for the manufacture of inverters, lithium batteries, solar cells and solar batteries.
