BIRMINGHAM: Shabana Mahmood, a close ally of Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour party’s parliamentary candidate for Birmingham Ladywood, has disclosed that, in her 14 years as a Muslim woman of Pakistani-Kashmiri descent in the UK, she has experienced intimidation and harassment. She emphasizes that being a Muslim woman in public life is difficult.
Mahmood said she had not previously talked about this kind of harassment because she did not want people, “especially our sisters, daughters, to perceive politics negatively and be deterred by the challenges of intimidation and harassment.” Mahmood made this explanation in an interview with News.
The Shadow Secretary of State for Justice emphasized that everyone should be able to vote in a free democracy without worrying about being harassed or mistreated.
She emphasized that it is unacceptable to exclude women from the political process through intimidation and emphasized the need for voters to cast their ballots freely and without being coerced.
Mahmood talked about her experiences in the divisive and hateful atmosphere of today, which is primarily misogynistic and influenced by fake news.
