If you’re craving Mexican food, Taco Bell can be a healthier option than you might think—that is, if you know how to work your way around the menu.
Jen Hernandez, the founder and CEO of Plant-Powered Kidneys Inc. and a registered dietitian nutritionist headquartered in Kentucky, told Fox News Digital that Taco Bell has emerged as a leading player in the healthy fast-food industry.
“They focus on including more fresh plants, plant proteins and low-sodium options,” she stated. “In many ways, they help consumers eat healthier without even realizing it.”

That said, not everything on the menu is exactly a dietitian’s dream.
For Ella Davar (NutritionistElla.com), a longevity dietitian and gut health nutritionist based in Miami and New York City, Taco Bell is not a top pick for healthy eating, although “it does not mean that we can not find healthy options there,” she said.
Hernandez suggests that lovers of soft tacos select the Black Bean Soft Taco, which comes with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.
“It packs five grams of fiber and only 390 milligrams of sodium,” she remarked, noting that this constitutes 20% of your daily fiber requirements from a single taco.
