LAHORE: Despite the government’s dramatic measures, such as closing schools, in response to Punjab’s severe pollution issue, the province’s air quality, especially that of the capital city, is still dangerously low, making it difficult for locals to breathe.
In a notice signed by the agency’s director general, Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, the provincial government’s Environmental Protection Agency also ordered on Friday that all parks (public and private), zoos, playgrounds, historical sites, monuments, museums, and joy/play areas be completely closed to the public as of November 8.
Signed in accordance with the Punjab Environmental Protection Act of 1997, the order will be in effect until Sunday, November 17, within the districts of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan Divisions.
