Since millions of internet users in Pakistan began experiencing intermittent access problems and sluggish internet connections, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) have become a vital tool for everyone who depends on unrestricted internet services, including freelancers and other persons.
However, once the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) registration deadline passed on November 30, the current government made the decision to only permit VPNs that were registered to function in the nation.
The use of VPNs was viewed with suspicion when the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) deemed it “un-Islamic”; the organization later explained its view and insisted that it depended on the intended use of the VPN.
