A judge decided that Mr. Combs’ trial would start on May 5 of next year during a hearing that he attended on Thursday.
Clad in a rumpled beige prison uniform, Mr. Combs sat behind his lawyers while the court deliberated on putting a gag order in place, which would stop lawyers or prosecutors from talking about the case in public or to the media.
In the courtroom, Mr. Combs’s family members were arranged in rows. The rapper mouthed “I love you” to his mother, his three daughters, and his three boys. In addition, he prayed and placed his palm over his heart several times.
Dozens of individuals who have accused Mr. Combs of sexual assault, rape, and sexual exploitation are suing him in addition to the criminal prosecution.
In the criminal trial, Mr. Combs entered a not guilty plea. The rapper’s attorneys have always argued for their client’s innocence, labeling the accusations made against him as “false and defamatory.”
This is an outline of his legal issues.
