Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are on Capitol Hill to talk about their recently established advisory group, which the two billionaires claim would reduce federal government headcounts, spending, and regulations.
Last month, Donald Trump originally announced the Department of Government Efficiency, or “Doge”—ostensibly a playful allusion to Musk’s preferred cryptocurrency, dogecoin.
The president-elect posted on social media, “It will become, potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time,” alluding to a top-secret nuclear weapons development program during World War Two. “The goals of ‘DOGE’ have long been the stuff of Republican politicians’ dreams.”
