By Wednesday afternoon, it seemed that the Kremlin was still considering how to react to the proposals.
Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, stated that “the formation of the position of the Russian Federation [would] take place inside the Russian Federation” and declined to elaborate.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, also sidestepped the matter. He remarked, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” and that Moscow was “acquainting itself” with the joint statement that was released in Jeddah.
According to sources, US envoy Steve Witkoff may visit Moscow on Thursday. Peskov promised to keep the media updated. Other than this, the Kremlin has nothing to say.
