NEW DELHI: India denounced a security lapse Thursday during the foreign minister’s trip to London, when a demonstrator smashed over a police barricade, positioned themselves in front of the minister’s vehicle, and tore the Indian flag before being removed.
India’s foreign ministry referred to the demonstrators as a “small group of separatists and extremists” and stated that it expects Britain to fulfill its “diplomatic obligations”.
Social media videos showed a few demonstrators yelling slogans and waving flags of Khalistan, a Sikh separatist movement, outside London’s Chatham House think tank on Wednesday, where Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar was giving a speech.
