The display of a life-sized synthetic whale shark rather than an actual one at China’s Xiaomeisha Sea World has drawn public attention.
Curiosity-driven crowds are confused and incensed by the reopened aquarium’s hefty admission price of 230 yuan (Rs8,845), according to a South China Morning article.
Viral social media videos show the life-sized autonomous whale shark floating and sailing in the waters of Xiaomeisha Sea World in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
However, according to SCMP, a small percentage of tourists were disappointed to learn the truth about whale sharks and requested compensation from Meituan’s restaurant and related business, Dazhong Dianping, on the aquarium’s page.
