We talked about a potential Dodgers roster in the most recent newsletter. One question was asked by many of you: Why wasn’t Clayton Kershaw listed on the roster?
I apologize to anyone who was misinformed. We talked about Kershaw in an earlier newsletter. This won’t be changing for a while, so store it in your memory banks for quick access. Let’s go over it again.
In the offseason, Kershaw, a free agent, underwent shoulder surgery. to specifically fix the ligaments in the glenohumerus.
It won’t be until the middle of the season that he is prepared to return. He also needs to choose between signing with the Dodgers, Texas, or retiring at some point before then. And he most likely wouldn’t retire until after the surgery if his shoulder didn’t heal.
He could decide who to sign with tomorrow, or when he’s ready to return the following season, or even during spring training. He has the whole ball in his court. The Dodgers have stated that they will be happy to have him back.
Therefore, there’s really no reason to include him on a projected Dodgers roster until a decision is made. If he does decide to return, he should be a huge boost. All we can do is wait and see.
