Singapore continues to occupy the top rank on the list of the world’s most powerful passports for 2024, and it appears that the United States is having difficulty keeping up.
As per CNN, Singapore’s passport has been recognized as the most powerful travel document globally for the second year in a row, according to the Henley Passport Index rankings for this year’s most powerful passports.
Henley & Partners, a London-based worldwide citizenship and residency advice firm, co-created this index.
Using unique data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), it has been monitoring global freedoms in 227 nations and territories for the past 19 years.Furthermore, a combined total of Japan, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain occupy the second position. Citizens of these nations are able to travel to about 192 countries without a visa.
Third rank goes to South Korea, followed by Sweden, Finland, Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, all of which enjoy hassle-free travel to 191 locations.
With 190 destinations, the UK is ranked fourth, behind New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland.
Portugal and Australia are tied for fifth place with 189 destinations each.
Nevertheless, the United States has fallen to ninth position, offering visa-free travel to just 186 locations.
Afghanistan’s passport, however, has been found to be the weakest; as a result, its people can only visit 26 nations visa-free.
