According to reports, Apple has begun paying US users for specific iPhone models because they say their phones are slowing down. For every impacted model owned, complainants are entitled to approximately $92 (£72), with a potential payout of $500 million (£394 million). The total solely pertains to US users and includes the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, and SE models that were running iOS 10.2.1 or later on December 21, 2017, as well as the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus running iOS 11.2. It occurs while owners in the UK watch events in a related case against Apple that was approved in November of last year. 2020 saw the settlement of a case brought in 2017 alleging that Apple purposefully slowed down phones over time.
