According to co-owner Alex Tadross, Mars Tapes in Manchester is the last store in the UK that solely sells music on cassette tapes.
Business is booming: “We sold out of almost everything Oasis when the tour was announced.” He claims, “Everything flew out.”
Additionally popular are cassettes of music from the 1980s, especially Kate Bush, whose songs were featured in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, according to Mr. Tadross.
He states, “We get a mix of customers.” Many of them are consumers in their twenties and teens who are discovering it for the first time, followed by a few individuals who own cassettes in their forties and fifties and purchase them for the nostalgia value.
