Los Angeles defeated the Dodgers 8-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the National League Championship Series, while the New York Mets offense was inactive.
Due in large part to a careless Mets defense that allowed New York starting Luis Severino to score two unearned runs, the Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Francisco Lindor, a slugger for the Mets, struck out with the bases loaded to halt a threat from New York in the bottom of the second.
Before Kike Hernandez hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning, the teams traded zeroes on the board.
The Mets made another comeback, but it was cut short when “OMG” singer Jose Iglesias grounded into a 5-4-3 double play.
Shohei Ohtani added the cherry on top with a deep three-run home ball in the eighth inning to put the Dodgers ahead 7-0, but they didn’t need much assistance. Max Muncy completed the scoring with a solo shot in the eighth.
