LAHORE: PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi criticized the current government’s purported strategies for quelling the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Saturday, stating that political stability in the nation could not be possible without acknowledging the role played by the party’s founder, Imran Khan.
at an unofficial interview with media at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, Qureshi stated that “Imran Khan is a political reality” and that “our country cannot achieve political stability without accepting this reality.”
The politician criticized the large number of cases that were brought against him following the riots on May 9, 2023, pointing out that in less than a year, dozens of cases had been brought against him. He continued by saying that despite his 40 years in politics, he had not been the subject of any charges for the previous 39 years.Since the May 9 riots, when crowds vandalized military institutions like Rawalpindi’s General Headquarters (GHQ) and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House, the erstwhile ruling party has been under siege.
He added that the late Nawab Akbar Bugti, the leader of the Baloch people, was “not anti-Pakistan” and was the victim of “cruelty”.
The former minister of foreign affairs declared that it was time to buck the 75-year precedent of calling everyone a “traitor”.
