According to the police, a 37-year-old man with the last name Lin went on a stabbing rampage, lunging at random people as he made his way through the confusing retail center, past restaurants, and upstairs to a Wallmart.
Three of the eighteen individuals he struck were killed by his strikes.
After finishing a barbecue meal with a friend, Zheng, a 28-year-old construction worker, noticed people “running, hiding, and screaming.”
He tells us that when he and his friend noticed the man brandishing knives, they attempted to stop him by hurling chairs at him in an attempt to slow him down or remove the weapons.
Zheng, however, claims that the man was going too fast and that they lost him as he went to the second story.
Zheng continues, “As everything went crazy, we were only able to figure out where he had gone by hearing people scream.” The assailant was also yelling Chinese expletives while stabbing victims.
Zheng claims that he believed the murderer’s path “was definitely pre-planned.”
“I think he must have scouted the area beforehand; he chose the exits on purpose.”
Lin allegedly walked out of the shopping center with a knife in each hand, according to two young vendors outside the building who witnessed the police bringing Lin to the ground. He seemed composed, instead of fleeing the sight of the destruction he had inflicted.
