KARACHI: For the heinous strangulation and electrocution murder of her husband, Shah Zaman, Asma was given a life sentence by a Karachi court. Ghulam Nabi, also known as Deedar, her lover, assisted her in the crime.
The extra district and sessions judge (West), who announced the verdict in the 2019 murder case, also sentenced Deedar to death. The inmates participated in the hearing from their separate prisons via video link.
In addition, the court mandated that the convicted individuals compensate the deceased man’s rightful heirs with a fine of Rs 500,000 apiece.
The prosecution told the court throughout the hearing that the criminals tried to fabricate the crime to look like a suicide.
