The strangest moment of this year’s postseason didn’t take long to occur, and the Bronx Bombers are on the verge of losing the World Series in front of their home fans on Tuesday night.
Gleyber Torres launched a pop fly down the right field line toward the stands at the bottom of the first inning.
Mookie Betts, an outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, jumped for the ball and caught it, but it appears that he was in danger.
A Yankee supporter in the front row really attempted to tear Betts’ glove off his hand and remove the ball, but another supporter grabbed Betts by the wrists.
Fans aren’t permitted to reach into the field of play, but if the ball is past the wall, it’s anybody’s ball, therefore it’s debatable if it was fair for the fan to try to get it.
When the umpire signaled for the out and security arrived, it was obvious that Betts wasn’t happy.
That turned out to be a home run for the Yanks, so it wasn’t quite Jeffrey Maier.
Security pulled both fans out of the stadium.
