At the age of 73, tabla maestro Zakir Hussain passed away.
According to a statement from his family, Hussain passed away on Monday at a San Francisco hospital from a heart-related issue.
According to the most recent accounts, he spent two weeks in the hospital before being moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) when his condition deteriorated.
Hussain is the son of the renowned tabla maestro Ustad Allah Rakha and is regarded as the best tabla musician of his generation.
