In exchange for Ukrainian POWs in Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is prepared to turn over two captured North Korean soldiers to Pyongyang.
“For those North Korean soldiers who do not wish to return, there may be other options available,” Zelensky stated on X. Those who would like “to bring peace closer by spreading the truth about this war in Korean will be given that opportunity” , he stated.
One of the two troops informed officials he believed he was traveling to Russia for “training” rather than combat, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
He was discovered in possession of a Russian military ID card that had been issued under someone else’s identity. There were no documentation on the other soldier.
