Zulfi Bukhari, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), congratulated Republican Donald Trump on his victory over Democratic opponent Kamala Harris to become the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday. He expressed his hope that the billionaire would help put an end to conflicts and address injustices both inside Pakistan and abroad.
Bukhari said, “Many congratulations to President Trump, the vice president and his whole team on behalf of the PTI, [its founder] Imran Khan,” following the Republican candidate’s victory speech in Palm Beach, Florida. According to US media, he was expected to receive 277 electoral college votes, while Harris received 222.
This serves as a reminder that in a democracy, the number of false accusations against a leader and the employment of state apparatus against them is irrelevant.
