The journey towards World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) WrestleMania 40 has gotten off to an intriguing start as Pat McAfee and Michael Cole were introduced as the new commentary team on Monday Night Raw.
Monday saw McAfee’s return to Raw in Tampa, Florida, following his role as a guest commentator at the Royal Rumble match on Saturday. Participating in the 30-man over-the-top-rope brawl, he demonstrated his remarkable skills in the ring.
At the ringside table, the 36-year-old former National Football League player greeted Cole, his former coworker.
Cole declared that McAfee and he will be the newest commentary team for Monday Night Raw, perhaps reviving their great camaraderie from their SmackDown days.
McAfee is adding more commitments and shows to his already full schedule with his new role at the ringside table.
Prior to focusing on his new position at ESPN, where “The Pat McAfee Show” will now be known as “The Worldwide Leader” and Pat will be joining the desk for College GameDay, McAfee was a color commentator for WWE’s Smackdown on Friday evenings.
While GameDay visits a different American college football stadium every Saturday, the “Pat McAfee Show” airs once a week. It’s unexpected that McAfee is willing to take on the additional duty of traveling at least once a week.
Less than a week has passed since the WWE inked a new rights agreement with Netflix for the year 2025.
Although it’s uncertain if McAfee will stay in this capacity during the college football season, he has made it known that he intends to remain on College GameDay till 2024.
