Trump backs the in-law’s daughter Lara Trump to lead the RNC.

Donald Trump, the former US President, has given his daughter-in-law his support to lead the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Mr. Trump expressed his backing for Lara Trump and Michael Whatley, the Republican Party head for North Carolina.

His support on Monday came as rumors circulated that he was becoming dissatisfied with the RNC’s present leadership.

If the committee’s current chair, Ronna McDaniel, steps down, the members would vote for a new leader.

According to US media, Ms. McDaniel might resign from her position following the Republican primary in South Carolina, which is set for February 24.

As an organization, the RNC is focused on encouraging Republicans to cast ballots and raising money for the party.

Given that Mr. Trump is the front-runner for the Republican nomination in this year’s election, RNC members are probably going to be influenced by his endorsement.

Mr. Trump claimed in a statement released on Monday night that Mr. Whatley, the committee’s general counsel at the moment, “has done a great job in his home state of North Carolina” and that he ought to lead the RNC in the future.

He praised Mr. Whatley’s dedication to “election integrity” as well. In the past, Mr. Whatley has supported the former president’s ludicrous claims of electoral fraud in the 2020 race.

Mr. Trump stated that he supports his “very talented” daughter-in-law Lara Trump for the position of RNC co-chair.

“Lara is an extremely talented communicator and is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for,” Trump stated.

The RNC views Ms. Trump as an efficient fundraiser because of her prior close collaboration with the organization.

The RNC must be led by a male and a female, according party regulations.

According to the former president, he has also asked Chris LaCivita, who is currently co-managing his presidential campaign, to become the chief operational officer of the RNC.

Politico stated that Mr. Lacivita will continue to serve as Mr. Trump’s co-campaign manager even if he accepts the position.
