India police use tear gas on farmers who are protesting during a march through Delhi.

Following four rounds of discussions with the federal government that failed to break the impasse, Indian police have opened fire with tear gas on protesting farmers who have resumed their march through the nation's capital, Delhi.

The farmers claim they have months’ worth of supplies on hand and are prepared for guaranteed prices for their produce.

To prevent their access, barbed wire and multiple levels of barricades have been up along Delhi’s borders.

However, demonstrators have threatened to force their way through using large machinery.

Images from the Shambhu border between the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana were captured on camera on Wednesday. Thousands of farmers were seen getting ready to use bulldozers and earthmovers to smash past obstacles.

As the demonstrators tried to approach the border, police opened fire on them with tear gas, according to Punjabi. Compared to last week, farmers appeared more prepared as they wore safety jackets, masks, and gloves to shield themselves from the shelling.

To obstruct the police’s deployment of drones to dump tear gas shells on the demonstrators, a large number of people launched kites.

Agricultural leaders also frequently declared their togetherness and pleaded with the security forces not to attack their “brethren”.

Farmers are called for a fifth round of discussions by Agriculture Minister Arjun Munde. “Maintaining peace is crucial for us,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter). So yet, farmers have not replied to this invitation.
