Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the military on Friday for its part in Pakistan’s “peaceful rise” and stated that the country is “destined to rise.”
According to the military’s media wing, the premier’s remarks occurred while he and his newly appointed cabinet members visited General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi and met with top military authorities, including Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the premier and cabinet members met with military authorities to discuss national security, regional stability, and military preparation.
“They were briefed on the current security environment, threat spectrum, response to the security threats and ongoing counter terrorism operations,” the statement went on to say.
PM and cabinet members complimented the professionalism and operational readiness.
The Pakistan Army’s efforts in the war against terrorism were lauded, as was the military’s determination to protecting the country’s territorial integrity and maintaining peace and stability.
PM Shehbaz, whose cabinet took power following the February 8 elections, promised to provide all of the resources needed to ensure the armed forces’ operational readiness.
“Pakistan is destined to rise, and the role of the armed forces in ensuring Pakistan’s peaceful rise cannot be overstated,” the statement cited the prime minister as saying.
In response, the army chief praised the premier for visiting the GHQ and expressing trust in the force.
