The two stories that dominated the moments following Stina Blackstenius’s victory in the 116th minute of the match were very different.
First, the horrifying on-field collapse of Frida Maanum, an Arsenal midfielder, during second-half stoppage time. The Norwegian needed a lot of care on the field and was carried off the Molineux stadium on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on.
Maanum’s stability has been confirmed by Arsenal, and the team’s manager, Jonas Eidevall, stated that he has spoken with her and that she will return to London with the group.
The other story emerged following a confrontation between Chelsea manager Emma Hayes and Eidevall at the end of regulation, with Hayes accusing her opponent of “male aggression” and pressing his chest.
Eidevall claims it happened after he got into an argument with midfielder Erin Cuthbert over Chelsea’s late request for a second ball to take a throw-in, even though the two teams had agreed on a one-ball system.
