Midfielder Kante, 33, was an important part of France’s World Cup victory in 2018, but he has not represented his country since June 2022 and now plays for Saudi side Al-Ittihad.
Kante struggled with injuries near the conclusion of his time at Chelsea, but France manager Deschamps believes his experience will benefit the group in Germany.
“He has played a full season, albeit not in a European league, as he is in Saudi Arabia,” Deschamps told French television station TF1.
“He’s returned to full fitness. With his expertise, I believe the French squad will be stronger with N’Golo Kante.”
