JHELUM: According to The News on Tuesday, Senate Chairman and prominent member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Yusuf Raza Gilani, has stated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has taken care of all of his concerns on a number of issues.
Speaking to reporters in Jhelum, Gilani stated that the PPP would make the decision to join the federal cabinet only after consulting with the party, since at the moment, they are trying to control the economic situation by strengthening the government.
The former prime minister’s comments coincide with the PPP’s repeated voicing of concerns regarding the recently proposed budget and other political issues in Punjab.
Sources told News last week that following the third round of negotiations between the parties’ negotiation teams, the PML-N has agreed to all of the PPP’s demands.
The PML-N was represented in the meeting by Ahmed Khan, the speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and PPP members Raja Pervez Ashraf, Ali Haider Gillani, Nadeem Afzal Chan, and Hassan Murtaza.
According to the sources, the government decided during the meeting to give preference to the PPP for development funds and appointments to administrative positions in Punjab.
According to them, the PPP has asked that a second secretary be appointed to the chief minister secretariat, whose sole responsibility would be to handle party-specific problems.
According to the sources, the Punjab government would speak with the PPP before appointing district deputy commissioners, district police officers, and revenue officers in regions where the political party enjoys substantial support.
