In Mold Crown Court in North Wales, Neil Foden, an Old Colwyn resident, was found guilty in May following a three-week trial.

At the time, the 66-year-old was the headteacher of Bangor, Gwynedd’s Ysgol Friars school.

Twelve counts of having sex with a child and two counts of having sex with a kid in a position of trust were among the 19 charges total that he was found guilty of.

Additionally, he was found guilty on one count each of encouraging or forcing a minor to participate in sexual conduct, trying to set up a child sex offense, having intercourse with a minor, and having indecent photos of a minor on display.

Before being freed on a license, he will serve the remaining two thirds of his term in prison.

Foden was “a man looked up to by many in the education system,” but he had “managed to hide a dreadful secret,” according to Judge Rowlands, who sentenced him on Monday.

He claimed that in order to satiate his “depraved, sexual needs,” Foden “repeatedly took advantage of young girls.”

“You were in a position of trust as regards the children who were in your care,” he stated.

“It is clear that you have no remorse, you’ve not shown an ounce of contrition for what you did and you have no insight into the undoubted very serious harm that you’ve caused both to the individual victims and their families,” he said.
