Muhammad Zubair, a former leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has criticised the government’s decision to outlaw Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming that it is the most widely supported political organisation.
“No political party, including PTI, should be banned,” Zubair declared on a private TV channel on Wednesday, emphasizing the need to lift the “restrictions” that have impeded the nation’s development.
Following the government’s reaffirmation of its decision to outlaw the PTI, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar made remarks that indicated the government was committed to following through on its “principled” decision.
“[We] have consulted with the Pakistan Peoples Party with regards to the PTI ban and are currently in talks with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan […] people are strongly supporting [the idea of banning [PTI]” , Tarar stated.
