PESHAWAR/LAHORE: At least 30 people have died as a result of flooding brought on by heavy rains in Pakistan this week, according to authorities on Friday. Lahore, the country’s second-largest city, has seen its highest level of precipitation in over 40 years.

Over the past week, the start of the monsoon season has caused floods and landslides throughout South Asia, leaving at least 195 people dead and almost 200 missing in one incident in neighboring India.

Rainstorms pounded Pakistan’s north, increasing the risk of electrocution and causing floods and building collapses.

According to utility officials in Punjab, where authorities reported six fatalities and issued a warning that flash floods were predicted for this week in the southern region of the nation, including Karachi, “the 44-year-old rainfall record was broken in Lahore once again.”Twelve children perished in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past three days of rain and flooding, according to Anwar Shehzad, a spokesman for the state’s disaster management organization, who talked to Reuters.
