Imran Khan: It would be “foolish” to not have cordial ties with the army.

PTI founder says he holds no grudges against United States, whom he earlier blamed for his 2022 ouster as PM

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is currently incarcerated and claims that his removal and 12-month imprisonment were the result of “trumped-up charges.” He has stated that it would be “foolish” to not have “excellent” connections with the army.

In a written response to queries from Reuters, Khan said that he had no resentment against the United States, which he has also blamed for his 2022 removal from power, ahead of Monday’s anniversary of his imprisonment on dozens of accusations ranging from corruption to leaking state secrets.

“It would be imprudent not to cultivate such a relationship, considering Pakistan’s strategic location and the military’s noteworthy involvement in the private sector,” Khan penned in responses forwarded by his legal and media representatives.”We are proud of our soldiers and armed forces,” he stated.

Since his removal, Khan claimed that his comments had been aimed at specific people rather than the military as a whole.

“The miscalculations of the military leadership shouldn’t be held against the institution as a whole.”

Khan volunteered to engage in “conditional negotiations” with the military on Wednesday, provided that “clean and transparent” elections were conducted and that the “bogus” charges against his supporters were withdrawn.

Requests for comments on Khan’s statements to Reuters were not immediately answered by the army or the government. Both of them have consistently refuted his claims.

The US disputes any involvement in his overthrow.
