Little In the UEFA Nations League, San Marino, a microstate encircled by Italy, defeated Liechtenstein 1-0.
Scenes of joy were set off when Nicko Sensoli scored in the 53rd minute, giving the isolated nation its historic victory.
In a friendly match in 2004, San Marino had defeated Liechtenstein by the same margin.

In FIFA’s world rankings, the team is ranked 210th, last, and Liechtenstein is not far behind at 199.

San Marino has a population of only 33,000, so there isn’t much football talent there. The majority of the team is made up of amateur players that have two jobs.

When the team plays home games at San Marino Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 7,000, traveling supporters have occasionally outnumbered Sammarinese fans.

The team has lost 196 of the 205 games they have played, with a 13-0 home loss to Germany in 2006 being their most devastating loss.

Over the years, they have lost seven times by ten goals or more.

Between 2008 and 2012, San Marino went over 20 games without conceding a goal, a record for Europe.
