PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration decided on Wednesday to file a petition before the Supreme Court contesting the federal government’s proposed constitutional revision.
The decision was taken during a meeting that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur chaired, in which his province cabinet approved the creation of a “Debt Management Fund” among other choices.
The grounds for launching the constitutional petition are that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) reserved seats have not been allotted, making the parliament, which consists of the National Assembly and the Senate, insufficient.
It should be emphasized that the administration advanced the proposed constitutional package in the midst of rumors that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa’s term may be extended.
