ISLAMABAD: The opposition PTI dubbed the proposed forum a “super court” and decided to stop it, while the ruling allies attacked the judiciary on Thursday for “interfering” in constitutional matters and pledged to build the proposed constitutional court at any cost.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari stated that his party would never back down from its position in favor of the establishment of a constitutional court since it was his mother Benazir Bhutto’s desire and was also included in the 2006 Charter of Democracy, which she and previous prime minister Nawaz Sharif signed.
During a Peoples Lawyers Forum (PLF) session, the PPP leader expressed his belief that constitutional courts have to be established not just in the central region but also in the provinces.
