While YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul, 27, has won 10 of his 11 professional fights, former heavyweight world champion Tyson, 58, has not competed professionally since 2005.
Hearn said he will leave before the main event, but he will be present at AT&T Stadium to support Katie Taylor in her rematch with Amanda Serrano.
“Mike Tyson was shot, completely finished, when he retired from the sport 20 years ago,” the Matchroom CEO said to Sport. “It was actually sad to watch then, 20 years ago.”
When Tyson, a Brooklyn native, defeated Trevor Berbick, then 20 years old, in 1986, he became the youngest heavyweight world champion.
Hearn, who was seated next to “Iron Mike” at an event in Los Angeles in August, believes the comeback will “only end in tears,” despite the fact that Tyson engaged in an exhibition fight against fellow veteran Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.
Hearn continued, “I’m in awe of him—he’s one of my favorite fighters ever, one of the greatest of all time—but he’s 58 years old.”
All it takes to know this guy shouldn’t be back in the ring is to talk to him and take one look at him.
