In an interview with The Rest Is Football podcast, the former England striker referred to the media’s conjecture on his involvement as “a strange few days” and stated, “There are bigger problems in the world, that’s for sure.”
He made light of the fact that his contract expires in the summer, similar to that of Liverpool players Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah.
“I think there is one significant difference – Liverpool fans really care about those three,” he stated.
“It’s been a strange few days—as you know, like Trent, Virgil, and Mo, I’m going to the end of my contract in the summer, so it’s normal at some time you have to have conversations, and they have just started.
