In the next fiscal year, Pakistan plans to allot a record-breaking Rs3,792 billion for development. This huge investment represents a notable rise over prior years.

The federal and provincial governments will jointly fund development projects in the upcoming fiscal year, with Sindh putting up the largest amount of money.

The anticipated finance bill for 2024 shows an increase of Rs1,012 billion over the previous fiscal year, per the budget sheet for the upcoming fiscal year. With a notable rise of Rs500 billion, the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) is allocated at Rs1,500 billion.

Additionally, the four provinces’ yearly development plan has increased significantly by Rs462 billion, to a total of Rs2,095 billion.

Sindh is scheduled to allot the largest development budget of all the provinces, at Rs764 billion. With a development budget of Rs. 700 billion, Punjab comes in second, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Rs. 351 billion and Balochistan with Rs. 281 billion.

It is noteworthy that Sindh’s development budget has increased by a considerable Rs241 billion, indicating a deliberate focus on speeding up development activities in the province. Balochistan’s development budget has increased by Rs 110 billion; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s budget has increased by Rs 61 billion; and Punjab’s budget has increased marginally by Rs 51 billion.
