Veteran member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Javed Latif, stated that his party was against bringing a no-confidence motion, arguing that the previous ruling party should have been allowed to finish its five-year term. This came more than two years after the party led by former premier Imran Khan was overthrown by a no-trust vote.

The PML-N leader stated, “This government was established under a ‘arrangement,’ and all parties entered an alliance under the same ‘arrangement,'” on Sunday during an appearance on the Geo News show “Naya Pakistan.”

With reference to the divisions between the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N and its principal ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the politician asserted that the ruling coalition partners had no justification for withdrawing their approval of the budget for the forthcoming fiscal year.

He also discussed the background events that resulted in the country’s government, led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), being overthrown in April 2022.

Without providing any details, he stated, “The environment was created under the arrangement and a no-trust motion was tabled.”

He further mentioned that following the motion of no-confidence, the PTI founder had talks with General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who was then the head of the army.

“I was defeated [in the 2024 general polls] by those who arranged everything and I’ve already presented the evidence,” the top PML-N leader further said.

The former federal minister called for the creation of a panel to look into purported anomalies in the nationwide elections scheduled for February 8 in addition to looking into the 2018 general elections.
