Days after confirming that he will be returning to politics after a prolonged absence, former governor of Sindh, Dr. Ishratul Ibad, has announced the formation of a new party.
Since resigning as governor of Sindh in 2016, Dr. Ibad, a former head of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has resided in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The 14-year governor, Dr. Ibad, announced in a statement that he would encourage MQM-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders to join his political party and put his disagreements with them aside.
The former governor of Sindh stated that the current government had “less time,” a claim rejected by the ministers, who have vowed to finish their five-year term.Amidst economic uncertainty, BMI, a Fitch Solutions company, has also predicted that the coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif may prove to be a house of cards over the next 1.5 years.
Political and economic turmoil, according to Dr. Ibad, have reached “dangerous levels”. He added that things were becoming worse in terms of security.
“We need strict accountability against corruption to ensure economic prosperity,” said Dr. Ibad.
